PRESS RELEASE
WaterPOG (Thailand) Secures €5 Million Investment from Incofin’s Water Access Acceleration Fund to Expand Sustainable Access to Safe Drinking Water Nationwide
Bangkok, Thailand / Antwerp, Belgium
WaterPOG (Thailand) has secured a €5 million investment from Incofin’s Water Access Acceleration Fund (W2AF), a global impact fund dedicated to scaling businesses that deliver safe, affordable drinking water to underserved communities across Africa, South and Southeast Asia, and Latin America. The investment aims to sustainably expand access to safe drinking water for communities across Thailand.
This investment adds WaterPOG to W2AF’s investment portfolio. Incofin considers water to be one of the most impactful investments the world can make, given its direct influence on health, women’s empowerment, access to education, and household income. Today, approximately 2.1 billion people globally still lack access to safe drinking water, while underserved areas require approximately US$140 billion in annual investment to close the access gap.
The strategy aims to enable affordable access to safe drinking water for 30 million low-income people by 2030, while also generating positive climate and gender-equality outcomes alongside financial returns.
Closing Thailand’s water infrastructure gap
Thailand is not a country short of water — it is a country short of clean water. The Metropolitan and Provincial Waterworks Authorities together serve roughly 30% of the country. In the remaining 70%, villages manage their own supply: drawing groundwater, filtering it themselves and distributing it locally, which leaves water quality varying widely from place to place — hard in some areas, saline in others, or too turbid to drink. Rural families routinely buy drinking water on top of what they already pay for supply, spending close to 2,000 baht a month in some households.
WaterPOG was built to close that gap. Its “Put On Ground” approach compresses large-scale standard water systems into a compact, accessible design that can be installed in remote areas across Thailand, cutting construction costs and saving 70–80% of installation space compared with conventional systems, with communities seeing results within 180 days.
The company’s flagship platform, POG Tank II, is a complete village water infrastructure that integrates treatment, storage and an elevated tank into a single structure. It delivers stable distribution pressure, runs automated backwash and sludge drainage for long-term operational ease, and is equipped with IoT monitoring to maintain water quality and performance for large-scale communities. POG Tank II is registered on Thailand’s official Thai Innovation List. WaterPOG’s village systems are engineered to Provincial Waterworks Authority standards, and its POG Drink units are certified by the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health.
Delivery depends on three parties working together: government, which allocates budget and prioritises the areas in greatest need; the community, which must want the system; and WaterPOG, which commits not just to building it but to keeping it running. After installation, IoT monitoring allows systems to be supervised remotely by phone, residents can report faults at any time via an on-site QR code, and service teams stationed in every province respond on site within 48 hours.
The results show up first in household budgets. Across more than 1,800 projects nationwide, WaterPOG systems have reduced household drinking water expenditure by over 1.2 million baht per village per year — money that returns directly to the grassroots economy. In Lao Khwan District, Kanchanaburi, where WaterPOG was the first team to build a system from scratch, households saw monthly water costs fall by around 1,000 baht, freeing income for school fees and food. There are health effects too: sediment and limescale in untreated supply are linked to kidney stones and digestive illness among residents. WaterPOG systems now operate in more than 70 provinces. The €5 million investment will be used to accelerate deployment of POG Tank II and the wider POG range across the country.
“Wherever you are in Thailand, you should have clean water” — the mission Kritawat Luanram, Chief Executive Officer of WaterPOG (Thailand), has repeated to his team since the company began. “Water is a basic human need, not a privilege. This investment shortens the timeline. Work that might have taken twenty years to reach every community can move far faster, and W2AF understood that from the first conversation.”
About WaterPOG (Thailand)
